Britain’s Rally Raid Team will be entering the famous Dakar Rally with BMW engine-powered Range Rover Evoque.
This is not the first time that this Bavarian carmaker is meeting British 4-wheel-drive specialist. BMW has acquired Rover group that includes Land Rover in 1994 and owned it for 6 years. In 2000, it was broken up by BMW because of huge loss and Land Rover was sold to Ford Motor Company.
Excite Rally Raid Team will be entering 2012 and 2013 Dakar Rally with 3 purpose-built vehicles.
The cars weighing 1,900kg are manufactured by RaBe Race Cars and feature a tubular chassis. Range Rover Evoque comes with a 3.0L engine that generates 275 hp and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. These cars are mated to a ZF 6-speed transmission and the fuel tank has 260 liters capacity.
