After discussing with their elected member, citizens of Houston have succeeded in shutting down red-light cameras within the city limits. Houston’s city council has conducted polls to shut down the camera last week.
According to Houston’s mayor, it is illegal to operate the cameras within the city even if it is profitable and had raised some revenue of $44 million between 2006 and 2011.
L.A deactivated the cameras by July end and Houston joined Los Angeles in supporting deactivation of cameras. On the other hand, there are red-light cameras in every corner of New York City as announced by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
It was given that New York City had raised $52 million revenue from red-light cameras last year.
