Seven automakers are collaborating for creating a single electric vehicle fast charging system with international standards. This system will be using a common vehicle charging connector and it will have a standard electronic method to communicate with charging station.
The fast charging system will be used by electric vehicles from BMW, Audi, Ford, Daimler, Porsche, General Motors, and Volkswagen. As per auto makers, it is a good approach to develop a common charging system, which will be beneficial for customers, industry, and infrastructure providers for charging. Standardization would reduce the complexity of installation for manufacturers, and improve ownership experience for EV drivers.
Nissan charging system for its Leaf electric vehicle would cost $1,818 for both hardware and installation services. Many homeowners have discovered that it would cost $2,000 to $3,000 for the system and installation services.
